Caribana is Caribbean carnival taken to a North American city and given one of the world's most spectacular backdrops — the Toronto waterfront on a warm August day. Over a million people line Lake Shore Boulevard for the Grand Parade, and the diaspora energy makes it feel like the entire Caribbean has landed in Canada.

Getting Around
The TTC subway, streetcars and buses cover the city well, and a day pass is good value across all three.
Exhibition Place, where the Grand Parade runs, is reached by the 509 and 511 streetcars or GO Transit to Exhibition station.
Expect heavy crowding on services to Exhibition on parade day — allow extra time in both directions.
Driving is on the right.
Most carnival fetes are spread across the city rather than clustered, so budget for rideshares late at night when the subway stops.

When to Book
Caribana mas band registration typically opens January–March. Toronto flights from the UK are best booked 3–5 months ahead — Civic Holiday weekend is one of Toronto's busiest. Hotel prices spike significantly for the Grand Parade weekend; book 4–5 months ahead and stay in downtown Toronto or the Harbourfront area for the easiest access to parade and fete venues.
