What to Expect
St Lucia Carnival offers two distinct experiences: the main Road March in Castries, and the Dennery Segment — a raw, ancestral street party in the east-coast fishing village of Dennery that has become one of the most talked-about carnival events in the Caribbean.
Dennery Segment: raw, percussive, community-rooted — unlike anything else in the region
Main Road March in Castries in mid-July
Smaller island — easy to move between events by taxi
Dennery village is ~45 minutes from Castries by car — arrange transport in advance

When to Book
St Lucia Carnival mas band registration typically opens March–May for a July carnival. Dennery Segment events are generally accessible on the night — no advance booking needed, just show up. Flights to Hewanorra (UVF) are best booked 3–4 months ahead. Rodney Bay and Gros Islet are the best base areas — central, well-connected and close to most fete venues.
