What to Expect
The Crucian Christmas Festival is the longest carnival season anywhere in the Caribbean — it opens in early December and does not finish until Three Kings Day on 6 January. St Croix spends a full month in festival, with the village running nightly and the two big parades held back to back in the new year through Christiansted and Frederiksted.

Getting Around
St Croix doesn't currently have app-based ride-hailing. Local registered taxis are the best option — agree on a price before you get in. Your hotel or guesthouse can usually recommend trusted drivers.

Getting Around
Safari taxis and shared vans run the Christiansted–Frederiksted corridor, which is the main route across the island.
Fares are fixed per person by destination rather than metered.
Driving is on the left with left-hand-drive cars, same as St Thomas.
St Croix is much larger and flatter than St Thomas, so a hire car is genuinely useful here.
Christiansted and Frederiksted are about 17 miles apart — the festival parades run in both, so plan the journey between them.

When to Book
The Crucian Christmas Festival spans December into early January, with the two main parades falling in the first days of the new year — so the trip to plan for is New Year rather than Christmas. That is peak fare season, so book flights nine months out. Henry E. Rohlsen (STX) has no direct UK service: connect through Miami or San Juan, and sort ESTA or a US visa early, as St Croix is a US territory. Accommodation is limited and the diaspora returns for the holidays, so rooms go first. If you can only take a few days, aim for 1–3 January and you will catch both parades and the closing night.
