What to Expect
Bermuda Heroes Weekend is the newest big carnival in the calendar and the most unusual setting — pink sand, turquoise water and a road that runs along the Atlantic rather than through a capital. It is built around National Heroes Day in June, and because the island is tiny and the whole thing is compressed into one long weekend, it is the easiest carnival in the region to do without taking much leave.

Getting Around
Bermuda doesn't currently have app-based ride-hailing. Local registered taxis are the best option — agree on a price before you get in. Your hotel or guesthouse can usually recommend trusted drivers.

Visitors cannot hire a car. It is not allowed, and it is the single most important thing to know before you arrive.
The pink buses cover all the main roads roughly every 15 minutes, less often on Sundays and holidays. Multi-day passes cover buses and ferries together.
SeaExpress ferries run four routes from Hamilton and are often faster than the bus.
Scooters — locally 'bikes' — are the usual visitor option. Minimum age 18, helmet required, and you ride on the left.
Taxis are metered and expensive, which is why most visitors buy a transport pass on arrival.

When to Book
Bermuda Heroes Weekend runs over the National Heroes Day long weekend in June — Monday 21 June in 2027. British Airways flies direct from London Gatwick to L.F. Wade International (BDA) in around seven hours, which makes this the shortest carnival flight from the UK by a distance. Bermuda is expensive and the room stock is small, so accommodation is the constraint rather than flights: book by January. Costumes are priced closer to Trinidad than to the smaller islands, and the boat parties sell out well before the fetes do. Note there is no public hire-car system for visitors — budget for taxis, buses, ferries or a rented scooter.
